Knitting Love in NYC

Knitting Love in NYC

I attended Knitting Live! by Vogue Knitting this past weekend, and I am so thrilled that I am a part of such a fun and thriving industry.  Is it the same industry as when I started 20 years ago?  Perhaps not.  But the enthusiasm for the craft and all things yarn has not waned.  If anything, it has grown and deepened, and that warms my heart.

Thriving in a craft business is not always easy.  Then you teach a new knitter how to knit and you see the excitement in their eyes and you remember why you are in this business.  Indeed, on one side it is to make money.  I mean, it is business, after all.  And we do all need to eat.  But it is also a labor of love, and that love pays 10 fold in a way that money just cannot.

The Marriott Marquis was packed with yarn enthusiasts from near and far. I felt a lot of love (and bought a lot of yarn) this weekend, and I am so thankful for it.  Knitting may indeed save the world yet.
